Have you ever said to yourself…
I’ve tried everything and don’t know how to help my kiddo?
I am not feeling anything but numb?
I can’t figure out what keeps me stuck here?
Do you need a safe space, free of judgment, where you can speak your truth while you explore the patterns that are repeating in your life? Do you feel overwhelmed by the challenge of trying to help your kids through their emotional struggles and need some help in teaching them emotional regulation? Do you catch yourself with ruminating thoughts leading to intense feelings of anxiety or depression?
Therapy can be difficult and scary to start, especially when you are tired from trying all you know how to do. While I can’t guarantee your session will always end with a neat, pretty bow tied around it, I use even small moments in session to bring attention to your patterns of thought and behavior, helping you explore how those benefit you or hurt you, leading you to the change and growth you desire. These moments in our relational dynamic are deeply important when you feel safe to demonstrate vulnerability with me.
MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH
I completed my Master of Arts degree at Southern Nazarene University. My approach to therapy is eclectic with a strong foundation in psychodynamic work. I see change in clients when they explore themselves in order to gain increased self-awareness and make the changes they desire for their life. This work isn’t always short-term as we work together to get to the root of your struggle and not just deal with the symptoms.
I weave Psychodynamic processes throughout the therapeutic process, but I also infuse Attachment and ACT, also known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In time, I hope to heavily infuse IFS and DBT upon completion of training this fall.
After therapy with me, my clients describe the benefits of an “ah-ha” moment, when they are transformed by the recognition of patterns and similarities within their relationships and encounters. My clients learn to see things in their life as “both/and” instead of “either/or” giving them a broader perspective and freedom of emotion without self-judgment or shame.

In Oklahoma, Candidate for Licensure means that I have completed all my education and have passed all the testing required by the Board of Behavioral Health. I describe this similar to a resident in the medical field. All licensed professional therapists in the state of Oklahoma are required to gain 3000 hours of supervised experience before they are able to be considered licensed. I currently meet weekly with a licensed and Board approved supervisor to review my caseload.

As a candidate for licensure I do not file with insurance. My cash pay rate is $125 per session. I have some reserved spots for sliding scale fees for clients who may need it due to financial hardship.

I work to get to know my clients. I think the environment a client senses around them can be both helpful and unhelpful to our process. Therefore, my goal is to create a space where clients feel I see them and not just the issue(s), and moreover, not being defined by diagnosis. I hope to create safety around genuine communication and encourage collaborative interaction.

I have always been employed in helping roles throughout my professional life and enjoy working with various populations. However, my desire to enter the world of professional counseling was encouraged during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was helping my own school-age children with remote learning, along with all caregivers, loved ones, and teachers, and grew to recognize the value of my surrounding community and the support I was fortunate to have. I found myself thinking of families and communities that may present as offering less support, or having less access to resources, and feeling an immense sense of compassion and willingness to learn how to be of greater help when, perhaps, one is feeling more alone and confused with the unfolding of life and circumstance.
It’s your turn to get the help you deserve.
